Coming in Thunder Run Season 8 on October 5th:

PvP Level Range Update

In the past season, as soon as players reached Level 39, they could be attacked by anyone, including L50-60 attackers. With the increasing power of newly-released elite units, it has become clear that players in the high-30s/low-40s level range still need a few more levels to upgrade their forces before becoming “fair game” for maxed-out attackers.

Starting with Season 8, which begins October 5 at 1700GMT, the new PvP level limits will be as follows, for attacks on home bases:

  • Level 39 and below: attack anyone 4 levels below you, up to 4 levels above you
  • Level 40-44: attack anyone 4 levels below you, up to 16 levels above you
  • Level 45+: attack anyone Level 40+ not more than 16 levels below you

These limits apply only to home bases. Battalions and quarries can always be attacked regardless of the level difference.

Here is a table of the exact level ranges for home-base attacks:

* The usual “revenge” rule still applies: if you launch an attack against any player, that player then becomes entitled to take revenge on you for 24 hours, regardless of the level difference.

Updated 2017 October 11: An earlier version of this post incorrectly said that Thunder Run no longer limits you from attacking a player who is above the max level that can attack you. This game rule has not changed – the limit still applies in Season 8.
